A bit of help from Daddy.
On the hottest day of the year so far we had a fabulous picnic on Greatstone beach with Anita, Steve, Isaac, Ira and Grandad. Ian didn't mind missing the England world cup game; it was just as painful to listen to the game on the radio! The water is much warmer than Hythe, the huge tide means that the sea warms up from the heat of the sand. It is also really safe for the children as it is so shallow and great for sandcastles and sand art. We have been trying some ideas from a new book I bought; "Make it Wild! by Danks and Schofield. Definately an inspiring book for the summer holiday and camping trips

Ian's first go on the new kayak; for the first time ever he didn't capsize!

Another game of velcro ball

Ian's stone art
I had my first swim in the sea this year without a wetsuit; maybe summer has come at last! We had our dinner on the beach; bean pasties and salad followed by strawberries and some rather dry chocolate muffins. Looking forward to more time on the beach this weekend.

P.Y.O

First P.Y.O Strawberries of the year
Note the strawberry juice around his lips and on his t-shirt

Orchard house is open again in Saltwood, only strawberries so far but we are looking forward to picking our own fruit in the sunshine (warm strawberries always taste better, don't they?!)

Beautiful weather

Our lovely Bell tent

A game of velcro ball

A great catch!

What a great campsite, situated in the South downs, 20 minutes from Eastbourne with free tennis. At £17 a night for our family, better value than Centre Parcs! The showers were basic, but OK for a couple of nights (as long as you knew how to prime the boiler!) We took a solar shower for the children and hung it from the car roof rack! Would definately camp there again. looking forward to some more camping in July at Kingsdown.
