Jousting at Leeds castle

We watched a very entertaining jousting display at the beautiful Leeds castle on Saturday

Ian took this photo of the lance being shattered!

Abbie took this picture

and this picture -
I asked why the horse wasn't in the centre and she said that she didn't want to include the other horses!

Harry had his first go at archery

and Abbie showed her little brother how it is really done!

Slackline Lesson with Uncle Steve

Ira celebrated his first birthday this week;
now he can join in with his big brother and big cousins!
Uncle Steve took his slackline to Kearsney Abbey
A slackline is a nylon webbing fixed between 2 trees
It is not under so much tension as a tightrope so it is great for bouncing on - like a very narrow trampoline!
Isaac first gave us a quick demonstration
Initially Abbie wanted to hold on to Steve's hand

Then she got more confident

Look I can do it!

Harry preferred just bouncing (or trying to bounce Abbie off the slackline!)

Thank you Uncle Steve!

Part 2 Holiday - Nimes Amphitheatre

Our visit to Arenes of Nimes, the best preserved Roman Amphitheatre in the world.

Lots of steps

Great views

Did you know that Nimes is apparently the hottest city in France?

The Amphitheatre was built in 1st Century AD

and it is still used for concerts, Pink and Stevie Wonder played here this summer
(but not at the same time!)

A couple of Jus de Pommes in the cafe
