Fish and chips on the beach!

The view
One brave rockclimber (wearing a Mr Bump plaster from an earlier bump!)

A beautiful mermaid on the rocks.
After a hard day doing jobs in the garden Ian voted to buy fish and chips and eat them on the beach. What a great idea!

Friday 16 April 2010

Herbal teas from the garden

Lemon balm.
Lemon balm tea

Nettle tea
Abbie's recipe for orange and stinging nettle tea
One cup of stinging nettles
1/2 tsp brown sugar
1/3 cup orange juice
Infuse the nettles in boiling water for 5 minutes, strain and stir in the sugar and juice.
Enjoy!
Or like me just drink the nettle infusion.
Don't forget your gardening gloves when picking and preparing the tea and only pick young nettles.

Thursday 15 April 2010

Picnic in the park.

Abbie hanging upside down.
Pushing the Dollies on the swing (Harry's dolly was looking a bit concerned!)

Pigeon proof?

Pippi enjoying the sun after her walk to the allotment
A drinks break

Planting the cabbages

The pigeon proof net (hopefully!)

We lashed on the bamboo poles (I remembered how to do a clove hitch knot!) to stop the pigeons standing on the net and eating the cabbages.

Friday 9 April 2010

First paddle in the sea this year!

Maybe just one toe? Brrrrr........!

Tuesday 6 April 2010

Sunny day!

We had a lovely morning at the beach with Nalini, Ashika and Abbie's school friend Evelyn when we joined the Green Gang (see link below) for some rockpooling. We found a large crab, some periwinkles, mussels, limpets and a few fossils. Ashika managed to get through 2 changes of clothing! Please can we have some more sunshine for the rest of the school holidays!

Happy Easter!

A big thank you to the Easter bunny; who visited our garden last night leaving lots of clues and lots of mini chocolate eggs!

Easter treasure trail at RSPB Dungeness Nature Reserve

Why do the birds look smaller Mummy?
Aha! If I turn the binoculars the right way round.....

How many ducks can you count?

The view!

We hadn't been to Dungeness nature reserve but with the offer of chocolate at the end of an Easter Treasure trail we finally went and wished that we had been before!
